Once again, this year Chris & Nick are doing Movember – growing a moustache to raise money for charity.
Generally it is done to raise money for male cancer charities – and we massively support that aim – but we’re doing it this year to raise money for Names Not Numbers.
Men are important, and our work with HIV in communities and orphanages has some surprising man related facts…
Did you know:
- Traditional circumcision in Sub-Saharan Africa is often done with an unwashed ceremonial knife, passed from man to man without sterilisation – an excellent way of passing on HIV, and cause of thousands of deaths each year across the continent! Find out more on the History of Circumcision…
- 60% of Indian cases of HIV are in men – many women are infected after husbands visit prostitutes and most women do not have the power to negotiate safe sex with their husbands. Find out more on BBC News…
Help us to make a change, support Movember!
